Abstract The healthcare organizations should recognize the urgent opportunities of enterprise reengineering, to overcome the new impact caused by the information technological development and the medical environmental changes. This article is focused on the strategic management point-of-view between the hospital information systems and the hospital administration. The author have reviewed the impact which was caused by the Internet new technologies, and trying to establish several medical information subsystems, such as 「Physician Workstation」、「Management Station」and 「Congenital Malformation Diagnostic Expert System」, with so call the object-oriented programming language(Visual Basic 5.0)and prototyping method. This article also focused on the distributing computing environment and the related technologies that are developing rapidly now. The Final results revealed that although the distributed computing environment has its good potential but is not yet mature enough. The healthcare institutes should introduce the new technologies progressively, and consider the integration between those already exist healthcare information systems and Internet/Intranet technologies sincerely. The programming systems established within this article were using the prototyping interactive development tool, which is proved to be not only meet the user's demands and fit the actual medical behaviors also. With the graphics-user-interface, the prototyping systems could be widely accepted by all users. The duration for systems programming could also be reduced.
